A self-improvement book for men that actually works
56As a man, would you answer yes to any of the following questions?
Are you a single man who just can't seem to understand women or maintain a lasting relationship? Do you feel dejected and alone, like love has passed you by?
Are you a married man who has fallen into a rut in both your life and with your wife? Do you find yourself avoiding her or wondering if she even loves you anymore? Or if you even love her anymore?
Are you in a relationship with a woman that used to drive you wild, but now just drives you crazy? Do you ever wish for the old days, when you were passionate and full of desire for each other? Do you wonder how and if you could get it back?
I used to wonder many of those things too. I fell in love at 25 and was in a relationship for over 4 years. I was madly in love. I was engaged. My whole life seemed laid out before me and totally perfect.
Yet by 30, my relationship had crumbled. I found myself alone, shell shocked, distraught, and confused. It seemed like one moment I was announcing my wedding date to my family and planning to have kids to and the next moment, she was gone, and my entire life with her.
I had no backup plan, no concept of life without her. I had believed that love would conquer all. But I came to learn that love is only as powerful as the understanding that guides it. I had understood my woman and myself on a logical level. But I hadn't truly understood her nature as a woman or the dynamic of what it means to be a man. We basically wore each other out to the point where we had nothing left to give.
I spent much of the next 2 years, reading, learning and absorbing anything and everything I could to better understand relationships and and where things went wrong. I found all sorts of information, some useful, some downright stupid, but I could never seem to find anything that tapped into what I felt was the deeper spiritual core of the male/female relationship.
Then I stumbled across The Way of the Superior Man, by David Deida.
I was skeptical but intrigued, thinking it might just be another one of those new-age relationship books that is all hype and no substance. So I looked it up on Amazon and read the reviews, and response to the book was overwhelmingly positive. In fact, some of the reviews were downright inspiring, so I bought it.
Needless to say, I was blown away. David Deida offers a moving and deeply introspective look at not just relationships, but your spiritual role and responsibility as a man. He doesn't approach from a religious or preachy sense but rather helps you define and understand your inner self, and how that relates to women.
He likens the masculine and feminine energies to poles on a magnet. Meaning it takes such polarity to start and maintain the passion and fire in a relationship, much like a battery. He explains to you how to communicate with women, how to deal with their wild moments, how to handle yourself in all aspects of life with strength and grace, how to be a superior man.
Not meaning superior in a, "I'm better than everyone sense", but superior in your capacity to live and love fearlessly, to rise above anger and resentment, to transcend your limitations and truly understand those around you.
I could see myself everywhere in this book. It gave me a fresh perspective on my past relationships and where I had failed in my role as a man. Love itself isn't enough. David teaches you HOW to love, deeply, unwaveringly, and how doing so can overcome the negative crap that ends up ruining a relationship.
After reading his book, I truly felt like I could never be mad or resentful in a relationship every again. I realized it was all within my power to prevent and change those negative things. I could see clearly why my attempts to fix my relationship had failed and why my ex and I had both felt misunderstood. It was like wiping fog off the window of my life.
This book will challenge you. It doesn't pull any punches or allow you to make any excuses. It can truly hurt to read, the way it lays you open and cuts right to the core. David doesn't BS you or dance around the subjects. His bold truth and clarity may catch you off guard, but it will almost certainly leave you feeling exhilarated and inspired.
This book has legitimately changed my life. If you're looking for the same answers I was, I encourage you to check it out. Its very inexpensive and well worth it considering the profound impact it will have on those ready for understanding and personal growth.
